05 — RECITALS

Music is for sharing.

From the first year, our students play for an audience. Twice a year, properly. Often, informally.

The practice room is where you build something. The recital is where you discover what you’ve built. We treat performance as part of the curriculum, not a special event — every student plays for an audience at least twice a year from their very first term.

This isn’t about competition. Our recitals are friendly, warm, and unhurried. The point is to know what your work sounds like in a room with other people in it — and to know that nerves are normal, manageable, and survivable.

By their senior years, our students play with the kind of stage comfort that comes from doing it forty times before age sixteen.

02 — ANNUAL CALENDAR

Three opportunities a year.

Two are scheduled performance events; the third is an open-day showcase for prospective families.

Term 2 · mid-year

The mid-year recital.

An informal, family-only afternoon at the studio. Each student plays one piece. Beginners are welcome — in fact, beginners are encouraged. Tea and biscuits afterwards. About 90 minutes start to end.

Term 4 · end of year

The end-of-year showcase.

The bigger one. We hire a small recital hall, families dress up, students play one or two pieces depending on grade. We invite extended family. Generally a Sunday afternoon in late November.

Term 1 · open day

The open-day showcase.

A short performance from senior students for prospective families considering enrolment. Held at the studio, low-stakes, with an opportunity to meet teachers afterwards. Free to attend.

03 — PAST RECITALS
